This was a walking tour to the Shibaozhai Temple. The beginning of the walk from the ship was up a very steep grade (about 200 yards straight up hill) in very hot weather. Some folks took either a rickshaw or car ride up because it was too strenuous for them. We walked through the "Hello Market" and after a pretty good walk we crossed over the "Drunken Bridge" (a suspension bridged that had slats that caused it to move both up and down and side to side so that you walked like you were drunk). The temple itself had 99 steps inside that you walked up and it was pretty hot inside.

We walked through town to the temple. It was the first experience in more rural china, so an eye opener.

Definitely a must see. We would have appreciated perhaps an extra hour for walking around town a bit more.

The pagoda here is quite old and well worth the visit.

The temple and pagoda were wonderful to see. One important point is that to get to the top of the pagoda and see the temple one must climb many stairs. It was about 100 degrees Fahrenheit when we were there, which made this quite strenuous. However, the guide took us up gradually, while pausing at each level to discuss Chinese religion and history. A fascinating place!
