I was EXTREMELY disappointed to not visit Safaga -- no explanation to my knowledge was ever given. I desired to see the Valley of the Kings, but the option in Alexandria was just too expensive and time consuming.

We took the glass-bottom boat excursion. Getting on the boat was a challenge because of the moveable pontoon dock. We saw some fish and coral, but the boat generated a lot of bubbles that obscured the view.

Amazing city, clean, modern. Had snorkeling booked but was cancelled, Viking substituted the sub ride- ok but the included glass bottom boat probably had better views based on my wife's pictures. Get used to high security precautions in Egypt.
