Dragons are unique for sure. Some people saw them, others did not. Luck of the draw. Uphill 1.5 mile walk each way. Very hot and humid. Anyone with an open would or a woman menstruating were not allowed off the ship as the dragons have a keen sense of smelling blood and will potentially attack.

One had to be on an excursion to be able to go to the island. The walk on this excursion was good with sightings of the Komodo dragons. The tendering was not organized well and we were waiting in the tender at the port for 25 minutes in the heat. After the walking tour, the vendors were very aggressive for Komodo dragon souvenirs.

Very crowded with tourists. The only dragons we saw were a cluster of smallish ones around a man made watering hole. Looked very staged to me. Of course, with so many people crowded around any wildlife would be far, far away, out of sight.

Once in a lifetime ability to see Komodo dragons, unfortunately conditions of wharf not assessed and communicated properly. Passengers with disabilities should not attempt this excursion. Also local children begging and seeking merchandise should be controlled.
