I could have skipper any other stop except this one. I was most important for me to visit this bucket list item, Petra, We took a RCCL excursion. 10 long and truly rewarding hours. Our tour guide was knowledgeable both of the geologic and the cultural history of the area. Petra itself did not disappoint. There was a lot of walking (2.5 miles downhill and then the same uphill) which could have stressed the largely elderly cruisers. There were 35 busloads of 45 individuals. Do the math, all of us were amazed. THis came after an exciting 5 days at sea transiting pirate infested waters

This place, Petra, is amazing. The trip in was lengthy, but that drive was almost as amazing as the stop at Petra. We got to drive past Wadi Rum. We got to drive by the Tomb of Aaron, and along the Kings Highway. So much history right there. Once we got to Petra and got parked, it was a walk. Not too bad headed into Petra, down hill and nearly in the morning. The walk out was much more difficult. We have all seen the Treasury, and that was what we were waiting for, but the rest of Petra must be explored. I don’t think you could spend three hours there but two hours is enough. Walking up and down the cliffs and in and out of these rooms… it was just surreal. This is a once in a life time event. Just do it. Make this happen.

This was the reasont o book this cruise and it was amazing. We went to Petra with a middle-size bus, by the local tourist office. It was well organized, the driving time was 2 hour there and two hours back, we had almost 4 hour there - it is enough to decide we have to come back :-)

We were there November 2016 and will be there again October 2018. It’s a very long journey from the port but worth it. Interesting fact...The Martian with Matt Damon was filmed here because of the red/rose coloured sand. We walk through a narrow canyon with our informative trusted guide organised by the ship....listening to Mr Basil, local guide/archaeologist, hearing and stopping and seeing the amazing Petra. Truly amazing and breath taking. This is ideal for those that are physically mobile because there is a lot of walking and if your interested in caves and tombs then a lot of climbing with uneven steps!! We finished our tour of Aqaba at the Movenpick hotel for lunch which was organised by the ship. The best local food ever, freshly prepared and tasted wonderful.

Excellent tour. Easier to do than it is made out. You can get horse and cart in and out of the Lost city when you are there and it is cheap.

Booked a ship tour with MSC to wadi rum.. Fantastic! Bedouins were so helpful and friendly and drive very safe in 4x4 with my elderly mum in the back. We didn’t want to leave! Stunning for pictures without crowds or too many tourists blocking your view and experience. Highly recommend!
