This port was nothing to look at. They have some shops right when you get off the ship. We were just going to get back on the ship, but decided to take the free shuttle to town. We were just going to walk around, but when we got there where they drop you off at, there was a open air tour bus, so we decide to do that. It was $9 per person. It took us around the island and showed us some landmarks and where the people live. It was very informative and about 45 minutes long, and the tour guide was great. Definitely recommend this. Right where you get on the shuttle there is a market there and the people were kind of pushy. But we didn’t feel unsafe. They were very friendly.

Not a lot of different excursions to do. People are pushy around port, but not as bad when you venture out. Taxi rides are best way to go. Drivers are helpful on telling best shopping areas. There is a little translation difficulty so you might want to speak with them a little before getting into the taxi.

They have free public buses if you walk out the port don’t get caught up taking a cab like we did 🙄 it was still ok but could have saved about $30

Cheapest place to buy vanilla. Beautiful water. Lots of ppl trying to get the most $$ they can from u! Don't pay what they are asking. Go way low and they will take it or not!

If I ever took a Western Caribbean cruise again, I would stay on the ship if it stopped here. It is an extremely poor part of Mexico so I'm glad my daughter and I experienced it, but we took a tour of the cenotes (which are really just sinkholes) and a vision of those Lifetime movies went through my head and I wondered if we would ever be seen again. We were the only 2 taking the tour and our tour guide drove us in his personal car 1 1/2 hours from the port to the cenotes where we were driven in a buggy contraption on make shift railroad tracks to 3 different cenotes to swim for 15-20 minutes. Then we were driven back. I would much rather have either stayed on the ship to take advantage of a smaller crowd at the pools or maybe even found the beach and swam in the ocean.

As soon as you get off the bus in the port that’s 7 Miles in , the people swarm you like seagulls. We walked the two blocks they said was toward the beach and it just became more run down and sketchy. I suppose it may be ok if you take an excursion but definitely nothing to see here otherwise. We went back to the ship.

We used autoprogreso as our excursion company! 5 Stars all the way for them. Docked at an industrial pier and had a long commute to get out of port but it was ok because autoprogreso took care of transportation. Shopping at the autoprogreso tour headquarter was good but limited in diversity. Tour took a little long to start but it allowed for more shopping time. Took combo tour of Mayan ruins and Merida City. The guide did well introducing the ruins to us and giving us time to explore on own. The guide was very time oriented to keep us moving and on schedule but not rushed. The city tour was a little less exciting but was able to eat lunch and do some shopping here also. Tour was to end at 5:00 pm and we arrived at the pier at 4:58! The tour was more of a quick introduction and great for first time. Duty free shopping in port was great.
