We did the Chichen Itza - Ik Kil tour and highly enjoyed the tour. Our guide was Carlos/Charlie and he talked a blue streak! The bus accommodation was first class. Our driver provided us with bottled water and minty chilled towels. They were a high point in favor of tipping. If you are truly interested in visiting the ruins I would recommend this tour. It was expensive but first rate. Both the ruins and cenote were beautiful and well worth seeing.

Unlike Cozumel this port is more realist to how the people live. It’s more rural.

We visited in 2015, and we didn’t really care for this port. We didn’t venture into the city to see the ancient ruins, or anything like that, we just stayed on the beach. That being said, it was 4 years ago, and it wasn’t really a developed port, so I’m sure things have improved since then.

Impressive to pull up too. Very poor country but they do the best they can with what they have. When we got off the bus I enjoyed the travel people there to help pick what to do and where to go. Mario Lopez and the laughing hyena were great tour guide and driver to get us to and from. Even helped a blind man across the road by using the bus to block traffic when it was our turn.

The actual town was okay. You really need to book an excursion out of town. We went to the reef hotel resort for the day. Nice pools, right next to the ocean, all you can eat and drink included in the price. Loved it.
