Water dirty, nothing there and the locals hounded you too death to buy things, even while in restaurant trying to relax and enjoy lunch.

When we pulled into this port, we were quite surprised. We did not know that it is a work in progress. I liked that we were able to deal with the vendors quite a bit more than in Cozumel. We didn’t take any excursions here. Hopefully in a few years the port will be a lot more welcoming. Right now all it has is one dock for cruise ships and construction is everywhere

Really enjoyed the shopping and great prices.

We had the best day here! We were able to visit The Mayapan Ruins, swim in a Cenote and visit a restored Hacienda for lunch. It was an amazing experience and I can’t wait to visit Progreso as well as Merida again.

Didn’t do anything besides shop by the port. Was a little sad to find out that shops were very commercialized and had fairly steep prices. It was very clear they understood retail American prices, and intentionally raised prices when cruise ship was in port! Tried to bargain and was told prices were set.

This port is very run down and the worse I have seen. They have a free shuttle bus that you can ride to get to downtown (about 4 miles from the ship) There is a little market shopping area but if you do not plan on doing an excursion, I wouldn't go any further than the shops at the port. Also I never found the double decker bus everyone keeps talking about. Lol

We enjoyed this port. We took a tour of the area in on of their open top busses. My girls loved it. We then spent the rest of the day shopping. The beach area was close and clean.

It was an okay port, but not the best. We took an excursion to an all inclusive resort for the day, which was great. The beach was a little rocky and the water was murky, but we still had a good time and loved our tour guide. I think if you’re going to have a good time at this port, you definitely need to take an excursion that either takes you to the ruins or shows you the area surrounding Progreso. There isn’t much to do at the port itself.

This is the port for shopping for that special little gift for family! There may not be as many shops but the ones they have are priced for taking home gifts to loved ones who didn’t get to travel to paradise with you.

Lots of little things to buy. I cannot see the difference between the "925" bracelets offered on the street and the ones offered in the approved stores.
