Terrible port. It is extremely dirty and the vendors are among the most aggressive we have ever encountered. We have been there twice(actually 3 times, but the last time we stayed on the ship), and we have no desire or intention to ever go back.

Booked Xumal with Autoprogreso, fantastic! Our tour guide Antonio was outstanding & passionate about these ruins. Took very good care of us😎felt safe

The two of us booked a Carnival excursion through Total Gusto and we went to the Hotel Reef in Progresso. The package was all inclusive and it was beautiful. There was a HUGE pool, cabanas, and a lot of beach access. The only thing we would want different is the quality of food and drinks served. The food was better than the drinks but both could use some improvement, but besides that we definitely want to go back.

If you are a first timer going to progresso, don’t get your hopes up. It’s dirty, the sales people are pushy, and there isn’t much to do. If we ever take another cruise to this port, we will stay on the boat.

We can say we have been to Progreso. And we can say I don't care to go back. The people were pushy, very overbearing, and one offered our 13 year old a shot of tequila. No, she doesn't even look close to 18! We walked to the public beach. Won't do that again either. The same people will bug you to death for money. We witnessed a homeless man on the beach bathing. 2 condoms floating in the ocean and 1 one the beach. Needless to say, we didn't stay much longer after that. When we arrived in Cozumel the next day, our cab driver explained Progreso has only allowed cruise ships in for 7 years and they are putting a lot of money into the economy vs. 40 years in Cozumel. Hopefully a few more years it will be better.

The pool and bar/restaurant area were nice..kids really enjoyed the pool..nice break if you didn't want to venture off into town, but wanted to get off the ship.
