This was my favorite trip to Progreso! Went to the Reef Club Beach Resort, booked through Carnival. All inclusive provided food, pool, beach access, drinks, etc.. and the service was great!

I don't know why this is a port nothing to see it's like a 3rd world country

Surprised by this stop as it was quite different from most. There was free shuttle service to the town as it is way too far to walk to. Nice public beach. Be prepared for the locals to try and sell you everything possible.

We were unable to port at Progreso due to unsafe conditions (cartel).

We didn't do an excursion here. Instead we leasurly got off the ship around 10:30am, took the free shuttle to a bus garage, got on the $10 city tour (45 min), then walked 3 blocks to the public beach. PRO TIP:Vyou can get a one hour massage on the beach for about $25. I didn't do it but heard it was amazing. Probably better than the $250 one I paid for on the ship. (would not recommend)

This port is a looooong way from town so either cab or excursion is the way to go. We did an excursion to see ruins at Ake and tubing in cenotes. It was one of the best excursions we’ve ever done. Tour guide was great. There also was a photographer on this excursion since water was involved but prices were far more reasonable. A good 2/3 of our tour bought them.

We rented a car and drove to the Mayan ruins of Uxmal about 1.5 hours from the cruise terminal. It was well worth the drive, and much less crowded then Chichen Itza, and just as magnificent. There is a car rental office at the cruise terminal, so renting a car was very easy, and much cheaper then a ship tour.

We took a tour to Chichen Itza and the Ikkil Cenote, and that was over two hours each way. They were both really amazing, but I literally had to run through the shops when our tour got back to grab a shot glass for Puerto Progreso on the way back to the ship. The port itself looked like it was more functional with tourist shops added as an afterthought. It may improve as they get more tourism, but I’m not in any hurry to go back.
