My wife and I loved Kona! We did another whale watching excursion and it was the most wonderful excursion of our trip. We went on a small craft with a total of 12 passengers and 2 crew. The crew knew what they were doing and found a pod of whales that included a mother and baby, a 2 to 3 year old juvenile and a male escort. They played and gave us the show of our life. I did not expect much from this tour but we were really wowed. The crew both said it was the best trip of the season and did not expect it to be matched, maybe ever. Truly a once in a lifetime excursion.

We mostly walked around Kona this day, so didn't make it too far from the port, but it was a beautiful day & our daughter got to swim in the ocean.

We did not do an excursion; however, we rented a convertible and drove to one of the black sand beaches. That was a GREAT day!!

Great port with lots of shops and restaurants close by. Only 15min Uber to airport for a rental car to explore the island. Didn’t wait long for Uber.

Good - one of the ports with shopping and restaurants at the spot where the tender boat drops you off. Factor in about 30-45 minutes to get tendered to/from the ship.

Good shopping in main area of Kona. Should have gone snorkeling here, but didn't plan it in time.

Best snorkeling of our trip. Two steps was breath taking and swimming with sea turtles was a dream come true. Always a good idea to book a private excursions and use locals.

Really enjoyed beaches were you could see turtles everywhere. Bus tour was very informative and gives you a chance to see much of the island in the short time you have there.

The Parker Ranch was beatiful and we saw very interesting lava formations on our drive. The beaches were very well laid out and the parks cleam and green. The people were mostly friendly. We did travel an hour or so to try the Kona coffee but that was not worth the trip.
