Review summary

The ship was decorated well and had a classy, yet colorful decor. After reading about how small the "Pride of Aloha" was, we were a little tentative, but very pleasantly surprised. One nice thing was that the suitcases fit under the bed and were out of the way. The room size was fine, but we were traveling with friends who did not have a balcony, and were very glad we did have one. Bathrooms had lots of shelves to hold personal items and closets had plenty of hangers. The specialty italian restaurant was elegant and the food superb. We seemed to eat most of our meals at the buffet, as it was quick, and we didn't have to dress up. Food was good, but a bit monotonous. The full-service restaurants were very nice as well and had a variety each night. Entertainment at night was good and we especially enjoyed the comedian. A little difficult to see the shows sometimes, as the rows of seats had very little elevation. All said, I would definitely recommend this cruise to anyone who wants to see several Hawaiian Islands.

Ports of call

Hilo, Hawaii

We rented a car and drove to the Volcanoe National Park and simply drove around the 11 mile rim, stopping occassionally for a closer look and pictures. Also walked through a Lava Tube, which was located in a Rain Forest. Very cool. Then, we drove about a 1/2 hour and visited the Black sand beaches. Then back towards the ship and visited the Rainbow Falls and another set of falls. Wonderful day and with 4 sharing the cost of the car, very inexpensive. Cars were scarce, though, so may want to reserve one before you get to port. We felt lucky to get one from a local agency as Hertz and others were out of cars by 9:30.
Don't Miss: Black Sand Beaches

Kahului, Maui

Called Hertz before we got there, and got a car with ease. Drove the entire West of Maui stopping at the Iao Valley, which was beautiful and visited the town of Lahaina. EXCELLENT shopping here and beautiful public beaches along the way. Kept the car overnight and parked near the ship. Went to the Old Lahaina Luau and was thorougly impressed with the site, the entertainment, and the variety of food-although some was a little odd. Second day, we drove through the middle of Maui for beautiful scenery and traveled the back way to Hana for about 1 1/2 hours and then turned around, as to continue on that road would take several more hours.
Don't Miss: Lahaina. And plan to spend some time. Check out "Celebrities" for some awesome artwork done by names you know.

We took a tour of the Waimea Valley, River Ride, and Fern Grotto. Also included a lovely lunch. Great tour with a few extra site seeing stops. Recommend highly.

Good shopping in main area of Kona. Should have gone snorkeling here, but didn't plan it in time.
Don't Miss: This is the best place to snorkle or snuba. Plan for it.

Pros: Embarkataion and disembarkation were EASY and efficient. Loved the freestyle cruising.

Cons: On the last 2 days of the cruise, the staff served everyone at the buffets, and it took forever.
