We took an excursion and saw a black sand beach the volcano craters. We did not have much time at either stop. The rest of the stops were just souvenir purchase stops. Wasted time.

National volcanoes - rainbow falls was let down. Remember - in Hawaii ports there is nothing - plan in advance. Even getting a taxi can costs a lot of money and there are no shuttles to tourist attractions

Nice, fun port to visit. No excursions but jumped on the Hoppa-on and Hoppa-off bus and made the most of some downtown shopping.

Hilo is very small town and local. We loved it! It is filled with nice people, amazing hikes and waterfalls nearby, and a beach with sea turtles minutes away from the port. We did not do a ship excursion, but rather rented a car and drove around the island on our own.

Industrial site, nothing to see, must take excursion and see the Volcano's National Park. Lava tubes are amazing but can't get there unless you book an excursion

Viewing the volcanoes was good, but our helicopter pilot was a bit of a cowboy and the ride was making everyone ill. Otherwise, you are in an industrial port with nothing to do and no way of getting there. So you need to book an excursion here.

Volcano National Park is a must see. Rent a car ahead of time to do it on your own.

We went on the Volcanos Natl Park and Rain Forest tour. It was wonderful. We had lunch at the Volcano House. A Must!!

not much to see except lava flow which was great ......... ALWAYS`rains at Hilo so why stop there
