There was one excursion option for everyone on board: plant Scalesia trees as part of the re-forestation program; visit a tortoise refuge; and partake in a cultural lunch and show. It was all fantastic.

Darwin research station lots of tortoises, stuffed lonesome George. We took the tree planting option, a great choice. Quick hassle free tree planting followed by a fantastic local lunch with great local entertainment. Bus ride back to town and again a chance to wander around on our own. Only full day excursion.

Because of COVID rules, we were not able to go to the Charles Darwin Research Center but we planted baby Scalesia trees to replenish the forest and had a great visit/lunch at El Manzanillo Ranch where we had very close views of the Giant Tortoises, of all sizes.
