Our first trip, we did not like Venice at all, way too crowded. We have since done two other Mediterranean cruises, we venture out and saw Murano and Burano... loved them.

We left the ship early but had arranged to stay for two nights in Mestre. It was approximately 10 minutes bus ride to Piazza Roma where we then took the water bus. We bought a 48 hour ticket at our hotel which covered both buses and water buses and cost €30. Again, we explored on our own.
