Lovely town and marina unfortunately alot of road works that meant it was difficult to get around with a wheel chair or mobility scooter. Even so we enjoyed our time here. Coach from the dock to town centre was strange and uncomfortable more suited for airport shuttle.

Best port so far on this cruise. Efficient, free shuttle from the dock to city center. Skip the tourist part and head to the well preserved old town. We were there on a Sunday, lots of shops closed, nice and quiet. Found a great vegan restaurant for lunch. It’s a college town, tourists mostly from France in the spring and summer. Old town has cool, narrow streets, lots of water and parks. Everything is walkable and incredibly clean and well maintained. Highly recommended!

Visited the local market, which is not on the brochure. It is on Rue Gambetta. Love the fresh Oyster outside the market. So fresh, cheap and comes with free white wine!! Excellent

Pretty little port, inside the old town walls , lots of pretty shops, the harbour is bustling. Need to take a ride by horse drawn cart to experience the narrow streets .

We, my husband and our two young children took the small bus ride to get to the markets and restaurants, lovely atmosphere. Plenty to buy for souvenirs. Worth a visit.

Ship docks right in town and we wandered around town shopping and relaxing at the outdoor cafés

No excursion. Shuttle buses were laid on by Princess and it was a 15-20 minute drive into town. La Rochelle is a beautiful typically French town with archways everywhere and shuttered windows. The harbour has towers adorning the entrance and it is a good walk right around from one to the other with lots to explore on the way. Also a big wheel for those aerial shots!

Bordeaux was very interesting.

This was an overnight port. The shuttle was not available in the evening and taxis are not available at the pier. I had read about lack of taxi service and the Tourism board sent me three phone numbers for taxi service. I emailed and arranged a taxi pickup and our single taxi at the pier was attempted to be taken by two other parties. Arrange ahead of time, an excursion or a scheduled taxi.
