A great cruise shame about not stopping at Guernsey and when we first went on Britannia we were told the lifts were for disabled people not for able bodied people. Shame about disembarkation but has it put me off certainly not
Embarkation
5 out of 5
We arrived a bit early due to good traffic and were able to embark almost straight away.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
The food was fantastic wether you chose the buffet or the restaurant
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
The bingo was fantastic and the callers were great. Henry remembered my name by the end of the week. Everyone was very helpful and always smiling
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The shows were fantastic. The ventriloquist was brilliant. I have not laughed so much for a long time. Just wish the music show was more pop music than musicals. A few people got up and walked out don't think it was what they were expecting
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The service was great. The staff numbers dropped quite considerably after the shows which was when you wanted a drink but the staff were very helpful
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
It was very clean and there was always someone cleaning up
Cabin / Stateroom
1 out of 5
This was supposed to be an upgrade but it was very noisy with a lot of engine noise. We normally have a balcony cabin at the front of the ship but due to teenagers paying for there own cabin we went inside to make it cheaper for them. An internal cabin was fine but seemed a little less spacious and noisy. Jordan our steward kept it very clean and tidy for us
Ship tip
There is always somewhere cosy and quiet to sit on Britannia which means you do not need to spend a lot of time in your cabin to relax. I feel very at home on her. Cannot wait til next year.
A shame that people were using the lifts to get to breakfast when you were trying to get off the ship with cases. Being at the back of the ship meant the lift did not even go down to the right floor which meant a second struggle to get in another lift
Hi Julie, I agree with you, the lifts midship did not have stairs as alternative, which we would have cheerfully used, not a great design feature on such a large ship. The lifts were painfully slow, we prefer Oceana, it has a much better design and caters for young , old and infirm. We all pay a lot of money for our holidays, shame that is not taken into consideration.
Hey stoofer I am the first person to help a disabled person and give way on the lifts, but I think Julie 812 had been given the wrong information about the lifts.
Yes I was talking about a person that is wheelchair bound, as I have seen a person refused to board the tender as they couldn't walk on to the tender alone.
The point I was making is there are no stairs mid ships on Britannia. And as for lifts being only for disabled people I don't think there is a ship in any fleet that has that in place.
That's surprising, are you talking about a person who is wheelchair bound? We've travelled P&O a few times to tender ports and providing the person can get out of a wheelchair and into the tender that staff will lift a manual wheelchair into the tender. We had more issues in Norway in the winter where the ports and ship didn't have accessible ramps!
