Helsinki, Finland Port Reviews

Sadly our itinerary was swapped and we had less time here than we were supposed to. However we managed to walk from port to the market place and visit Soumenlinna Fortress by taking one of the regular ferries. It was about 40 minutes walk each way but that helped some calories!! The Fortess was well worth visiting (it’s free other than the ferry ride). Excellent market and great cathedrals (Catholic and Russian Orthodox next door to each other)

We dock at the port of goods about 3 km from the city. Free wifi is available at the port. We took the following excursion: Helsinki Highlights. Made 3 stops: Senate Square, Temppeliaukio Rock Church and Sibelius Monument. Not so bad!

Ship excursion to Suomenlinna Island. Excursion was educational. Island has an eery vibe. After tour wandered through markets and shops. Bought marino wool sweater on sale. Tried a local cinnamon bun at the indoor market.

Beware of the seagulls trying to eat your food! I lost a plate of moose meatballs to an attacking seagull. We did a harbor boat tour. It was just ok

It is a very good port and there is a lot to see. We had been here before and we took the HOHO to visit places.

Watch out for the seagulls. They will swoop and take your food right out of your hand.

Didn't get enough time to see everything.
