Now in Marseilles, France. We took a tour from the ship featuring two towns in Provence, Aix and Marseilles which provide a great contrast between small and large towns in France. Aix was the small town representative and also former capital of Provence, so we got to see some get historical buildings and a smaller urban landscape. Marseilles is much bigger, modern city with many sites to see as well. A great tour overall.

It was a working port so we did not stay. We drive out to a locals beach that was amazing and seam and sunbathed.

We made a self guided trip through this city and enjoyed it. Our highlight was taking the bus to Notre Dame De Garde and marveled in her spectacular views, then enjoyed a baguette as we looked at local artists work near the port

Didn’t go to Marseilles. Port was closed. Went to Ajaccio Corsica. Excellent

Marseille was very dirty and the traffic was crazy. We did a paid excursion and due to some miscommunication between Viking and the tour guide we started 20 min late and the the traffic was so bad that it took an hour to get out of Marseille. Needless to say the wine tasting was very rushed. It was more like shots of wine and then we had 7 min to buy what we wanted before getting back on the bus to go to another rushed site Le Castellet. Le Castellet was pretty interesting but we really only had about 20-30min to see it.

Did a cruise excursion. The ship was a half-hour late docking in port so our excursion was cut not allowing us enough time to self-tour. This was disappointing.
