Spend some money and go to Aix en Provence, what a charming Provencal town. We did that in 2018… last year we took the excursion to Cassis, also lovely. Sometimes you just need to explore.

We took a train type trolley that brought us to Notre Dame. It was beautiful with great views.

Basilica of Notre-Dame of La Garde is worth a visit. Don't walk too far from the Harbour area as Marseille can be quite rough. There are a lot of North African beggars and other miscreants, pickpockets, etc.
