Jeep Safari was fantastic, great driver called David who took us up some steep shortcuts to get into the mountains and woods. Went to a fabulous fishing village, a glass walkway on the sea cliffs, some fabulous viewpoints in Nuns Valley and stopped off at local bar in small village for Poncha and Portuguese coffee. On return to ship walked into Funchal and had great time exploring the promenade and street behind, some nice gardens and lots of places to stop for more poncha and coffee. Cable car station to Monte was about 30 minute walk from ship but I got a Tuk Tuk back for 10 Euros...In town found the market hall which was really interesting to wander around too.

Take the cable car up and ride the toboggan down.
