Didn't want to stay in the port so took an excursion. While it was very exciting to see Berlin and the Berlin Wall, the train ride (3 hours each way) was excessive. Rethinking this I would have done something closer. The Allied Museum at the end of the tour was very disappointing and more time could have been spent elsewhere. A very long day......the ship had to wait for our return before leaving.

I did the excursion to Berlin. While the visit to Berlin was good, it's too far to really be worthwhile. The traffic getting to Berlin was awful so we lost about 1 hour of visiting sites. Since the time was cut short, it was basically riding on the bus, getting off a few minutes, snapping some pictures and back on the bus. I do not feel that it was a worthwhile excursion. I would stay closer to the pier if I was to do this again.

One star because of the train ride to and from Berlin. We did the optional Sachenhausen and Historic Berlin tour- which was a wonderful tour and our tour guide was awesome- but the train ride was horrendous. It was on train that was not air conditioned and the seating was horrible- not something you would expect for the the price of the tour OR from Viking.

Took a taxi (cheaper than the train for my party of 5 people) to Rostock, which despite the WWII bombings had a lot to offer (downtown is fully rebuilt like it was before WWII). Walking around and some shopping opportunities for those wishing to take western goods with them after the cruise (if you don't live in Europe or the US). The missed opportunity is that the day after our stop a ship festival was opening in Rostock with visiting sailing ships and a big fair. I wish we would have stayed one more day. Likewise, some groups opted to go to Berlin (and back) in that one day we stopped. This is way to quick!! Again, a two-day stop would allow a much nicer visit of Berlin for those who want. Conclusion: next time, RC please make a 2-day stop in Warnemuende, either to have a 2-day visit of Berlin or see the ship festival in Rostock. Definitely better than wasting a day in Fredericia the next day.

Fantastic excursion to Berlin with TJ Travel. Long 12 hour day but the day was made worthwhile by our excellent guide Boris Coranado. Highly recommended.

The village is beautiful! Should have rented a car in advanced (cars not available by walk in) - as it is not too far to drive to Hamburg or Berlin, instead of waiting on the excursions.
