It took 2.5 hours the first day to get through passport control, but the rest of the visit was wonderful.

Expect long lines! With kids, have a parent go before and one after thru Immigration - that way of there is a problem, a parent is there to help resolve the problem. We saw a young teen get turned away from going back to the ship, the mom went thru another line and was on the ship side and could not do anything to help. Got resolved but it was terrorizing to the young teen.

The sites were fantastic but the city was cold and uninviting. This was not a surprise however.

Fascinating! History overload. The opulence of the Czars was beyond belief. Be prepared for the crowds as tourism is exploding and logistics can be trying. A good guide makes all the difference. We did a full 3 day excursion package to see as much as possible and where very pleased with our time in St. Petersburg and a taste of Russia.

Awesome sites, but one guide for 40 people is impossible. Hermitage is extremely crowded. The representation that you won't wait in line if you book on line excursions is not true.

guess everyone should see it. but only once. still as unimpressive as eight years ago. fancy old buildings just getting older. natives are surly. river cruise was a different view. locals claim as "venice of the north", but stockholm more deserving. two day stop is one too many, but since you can't do am and pm shorex on same day, no other choice?
