The ship stayed docked for two days. This was the star attraction of the cruise with a combination of history, handicrafts and city sights.

This is the most exciting city with several Palaces and museums. We took the 2 days deluxe tour organised by SPB Tours. The price is less than US$300 which is about half the price organised by NCL. SPB used a 20 passenger van and we are with a small group of 18 people. The tour even provide a bottle of water and raincoat. Lunch is provided on both day and is typical Russian food which is not bad. (SPB recommend 10% tips for the tour guide and 5% for the driver)

Didn't realize we needed a Visa ahead of time, or HAD to take an excursion. We did book 3 excursions, so we were OK. Visited Peterhoff, Hermitage, and opera.

Beautiful city. Included tour okay, with just a few photo stops. Hermitage museum with Gold Room gets a mixed review. Museum was great but we felt little rushed. Gold Room is 4 rooms with gold objects, not worth our time. St Petersburg canal cruise, St Isaac's, & Church of Our Saviour on Spilled Blood was terrific.

One of the most beautiful cities. Too much to see and do in 2days. The ballet and Hermitage are musts. This whetted our appetite enough that we would recommend a four days or more stay on any trip. The local people are sort of cold to westerners away from the tours.

Beautiful buildings, palaces & castles. Pickpockets are everywhere, people are grey....with no life. Don't miss Catherine's Palace/Amber Room and the gardens (spectacular), the Hermitage Museum, St. Issac's Cathedral and Peterhof. Make sure you are on deck pulling out of port. Its interesting to see the security of the port going back to early ages. Immigration is cold and a bit unnerving. Overall I was glad to say I went once but wont be back.
