Arrived by train at Southampton Central. Taxi cost £8 direct to the QE2 cruise terminal. As we got out of the taxi, our taxi driver and the cruise porter did a well choreographed dance of transferring our luggage from the boot to the porter's trolley. We would see our luggage next time outside our cabin! Good thing we had tagged up our luggage beforehand. Our documents said we were able to check in at 12:30pm, but we got there at 11am and was told that we could check in immediately. Check in was quick and easy, took all of 10 mins. You then take an escalator up to the waiting area, which has a small bar serving hot and cold drinks with snacks. There was also a free water cooler to the right of the waiting area, near the entrance. The security line was long and you were called out for your group number. Passed security sat a couple of Princess staff, looking to sell wine packages or to tag alcohol above your limit of one bottle per person allowance. Although I didn't see anyone being asked to declare additional alcohol.

Had one day in London. Went to Tower of London and a cruise along the Thames. First time - beautiful city! I would have joined in the Queen’s Jubilee festivities had it not been for Covid but I need to stay negative!

Fantastic port, so quick and easy on embarkation, very friendly staff a well oiled machine. Embarkation was ok, a little early for some people I think, not sure some of the ground crew had woken up. But overall 5 stars.

We stayed at Jury’s Inn night before our cruise, the morning of our cruise we could see our ship from our family bedroom. Would recommend the hotel for location, there are cheaper and more expensive but you tend to get what you pay for.

Great place to visit. By itself you will need at least 5 days you will need at least 5 days to explore just London by itself. All the cafes and restaurants are great and there is always something to do and something happening. Such a beautiful city.

We have always been lucky with embarkations with P & O Cruises, but this time was so quick, we barely sat down in the terminal before we were called up to board. Considering how many passengers board a ship, all having to undergo all the necessary security checks, etc. surely the airports could get some tips off this port, absolutely brilliant and all done with a huge smile on the faces of all the staff. Well done and thank you.
