NCL Excursion: "Land of the Lakes, Valleys & Kjenndal". Loved this excursion. The small boat ride to the glacier and waffles at the restaurant were pleasant. Emerald lake is beautiful. Walk to get even closer to glacier afforded some nice views and pics.

The town itself is small but quite nice. There's a shopping centre for all kinds of cool Norwegian stuff and the Sagastad viking centre was good but utterly jammed up with fellow cruisers. If you want to visit then book your tickets online with the centre beforehand or, if you want to pay 3 times the price, book them with MSC. Disembarkation and embarkation were absolutely shambolic on this one. Ship staff were clueless and the port authorities not much better. Took hours to get off even when we jumped the queue (I'm not proud of this but I had my reasons, man) and the same thing getting back on although no jumping that way. Note to MSC - trying to get 5000 passengers on and off a 19 deck ship through one small doorway is not one of your better ideas.

Jostedalsbreen National Park tour was not worth $180pp. The views were great but the guide was new (he admitted it was his first tour in English), and there was too much time allocated to shopping and having coffee. Better off staying on the ship.

Another beautiful fjord town but different. Highlight was the Viking ship museum.

Went with the Norwegian Spirit, did the Loen sky lift. Awesome place but not enough time up on top. It seemed rushed. There is a nice restaurant and hiking trails could have spent a couple hours up there but only had 35 minutes by the time we got up.

In Nordfjordeid we did a shore excursion which included a boat ride and visit to the Kjenndal glacier. It was a long coach ride from the port, but it was worth it! The boat ride was beautiful and peaceful and afterwards we enjoyed waffles and tea/coffee in a small cafe. We then took a short drive and walk to the Kjenndal glacier, which we got close-up and spectacular views of.

HAL sponsored tour was so-so due to inexperienced guide.
