We did the full day tour to the waterfall and geothermal areas. Very interesting. Godafoss is amazing. However there were something like 14 tour buses from 3 ships and the infrastructure can’t cope. We spent at least two of the stops queuing for the loo. It got better later as not all the buses went to the hot pools etc.

We walked through the town and to a small museum about 3km further. Not great signage but people very happy to assist. Majestic place. The fiord was by far the most scenic spot on the entire cruise.

we did the godafoss fall and the city tour. falls were great and city is beautiful. this one we did the bus tour.

We walked around on our own and visited some of the souvenir shops and restaurants. We had pastries from the bakery which was a bit expensive, but great tasting. We visited a free botanical garden and saw a beautiful church.

Enjoyed walking around Akureyri and went on an excellent horse ride excursion after our prebooked excursion - flight to the Arctic Circle - was delayed for two hours and then cancelled because of weather.. Windstar said this hardly ever happens but the tour rep says it happens all the time.
