If you plan on taking a taxi, you get better rates by going beyond the dock's location. Just outside are many other taxi drivers who will give a much better fare.

We enjoyed the Acropolis. It will be really nice when the museum reopens the end of 2008.

A rude, aggressive taxi driver almost ruined our experience here. Watch out -- they will try to rip you off if they can. We took a taxi to the train station (but could have walked, and did so on the way back). Then took the train/metro to the Acropolis. We toured around the ruins there (a great experience, though very crowded) then walked down to the Plaka area for shopping and lunch. Finally, we took the train/metro back to Piraeus and walked back to the ship from there.
