Beautiful spot. Loved the cathedral and the town square. Unfortunately it was a national holiday so much of the shopping and such was closed.

Take the ships excursion bus to Taormina as there isn't much to do in Messina. Taormina is a lovely place.

Easy walk to astronomical clock. Beautiful 12 minute show at noon daily.

Our excursion took us to Mt. Etna. It was so cool to walk on a volcano. You don’t need an excursion for this port, it’s a very walkable city with tons to do right off the ship.

We just wondered around, visited the clock tower. If you have children they are sure to enjoy this. It lasted quite a while. In the square that’s it’s situated you can buy tickets for HOHO bus.

The Lovely Taormina tour was just ok. It was a large bus with earpieces for the town. Our guide was quite flat. The streets are narrow and crowded and that made the tour difficult. There was not time for lunch in the town. The town is beautiful and amphitheater stunning.
