We elected to go on our own and couldn't climb the Leaning Tower. Lines were too long; unless you were on a tour you couldn't get in. Sadly I did not get to florence because I didn't take the hsip's tour.

The city appears to be very run down; most of the parks and historical sites haven't been taken very good care of. No excursion this day either.

The tower of pisa is over rated by the general public. The beach in this part of town is not what I am used to see in other parts of the mediterranean.

I loved Florence it was lovely with lots of history and locals to experience. Pisa is a must see but its kind of the the worlds largest ball of twine been there done that and have a tee shirt.

Great stop with easy train access to Florence for about 5 hours of free-time through a ship-organized excursion.

We went to Chinque Terra instead. To go anywhere except staying in town you have to take trains and taxi's.

Booked our own excursion to Cinque Terre. Beautiful. Norwegian didn't offer one prior to sailing.

Did an excursion to the Academia to see David and the Uffizi Gallery --- really too ambitious for the amount of time we had - we were exhausted by the time we got back. Uffizi was packed. Still enjoyed seeing Florence though.
