Pre-arranged a tour with Big Bus Tours Rome with port transfer. Really happy with tour. Received clear instructions on how to disembark and where to meet transfer to Rome. Big Bus advised which stops are best as limited on time (5 hours in Capital) We got off at Vatican, walked to stop 6 to join hop on/off bus, got off at 7 (Trevi and Spanish Steps) 3 (Colosseum) then walked to re-join bus at stop 5 then finally off at 6 again to meet return transfer. Beautiful city, so much to do, we were aware this would just be an overview and did not attempt to go into anywhere. Enjoy! (Red Route!)

If this is the start or the end of your cruise, do plan on staying extra days like we did becasue there is soooooooo much to do in Rome. The strength of this cruise was that it ended in Rome allowing us to spend more time than simply a 6-8 hour excursion.

It's SO FAR from the port to the city, so making the trek into the city takes so much of your day. And Rome itself is SO crowded. But, we still made the best of it with a private "Angels and Demons" tour that was fun.
