Far away from Rome. Takes 90 mins to get into the city. We hired a tour guide for the day. I would recommend just taking the train and doing your own walking tour of the city. Less driving and more time seeing the actual city.

No excursions stayed 4 days prior to cruise. Amazing, enchanting city so much to do, see with great rustic, authentic places to eat and great shopping, it has everything.

The queue at up for the bus ride to the ship was pretty long. We did not do an excursion at the port. Though there was difficulty at the train station coming in from Rome. As most passengers had heavy luggage there was no escalator or elevator to go up from the platform after getting off the train. Everyone had to climb up the stairs with their heavy bags. And most of them were senior people, bless them.

We stayed in Rome for 3 days prior and had a great time. Recommend doing this versus rushing. We were onboard by 11:30am day of departure.

We took the tour of the Coliseum and the Forum, and it was wonderful! This was our third time to Rome, and I enjoyed this day the most of any other visit.

I had planned to walk to the train station and go into Rome as I had researched this extensively before going. But it just happened that I met a friend on board and she booked us on an excursion bus which was just fine. Enjoyed Rome, seeing the Pope and the Sistine chapel. To skip the lines, get your tickets on-line!!! The lines are horrendous and you won't have time to see anything
