Took train into Rome from the port, hop-on-hop-off bus in Rome. Less than half the price of ship excursion. Disappointed that Vatican was closed for a holiday the day we were in Rome - had we known that, we would have booked Venice to Barcelona routing a week lainstead

We booked a private tour with Miles & Miles in Rome. This was, by far, the BEST thing that we did. For essentially the same price as the ship's excursion, we got a personalized tour of Rome and the Vatican. What a GREAT experience and city! Roberto explained to us in the car what we were going to see then accompanied us to make sure that we understood the history, the site, etc. Any time that we go back to Italy, we will book our tours with Miles & Miles!

Rome is an incredible place with a lot to offer however I would really recommend to plan this trip in advance to ensure you have ensure time to soak up all of your desired places! Always ensure you leave yourself enough time to get back to the ship and accounting for delays / inconveniences in the process!

The port was again a bit confusing. A shuttle took those going on an excursion to the bus area outside of the port. Once outside, the city seemed lovely, although I did not walk it. The Cruise Excursion team greeted me when I got off the shuttle.

Historically significant city; not my particular favorite. Always crowded; sites get tedious...

Port is aweful, hard to Navigate and a LONG way from Rome. If you are embarking on the cruise use Barcelona. Also Italian trains are very difficult to navigate make sure you use the "Intercity" train not the regional the regional takes 2 hours to get to Rome.
