It depends on what you do: Port to Airport- long distance, nothing to see. Stay in port- nothing to see. Catch a train: easy. We stayed in Rome for 3 days as usual- always a great plan!

We took the Angels and Demons tour and loved it. Beware, though, there was a lot of walking. If you have dreamed of walking all over Rome, this is for you. Also, you will enjoy it whether you have read Dan Brown’s book or not, but read the book beforehand if you go.

Getting from the train station to the ship with luggage really requires taxi service rather than walking. Elevator in the train station out of order so passengers have to navigate several flights of stairs if their train arrives at other than first track in station.

I recommend seeing Rome on your own! Do not book the excursion and do not believe that it is accessible for those handicapped. The marched us at a very rapid clip from the train station to town (about 1.5 miles). Then we arrived and where told the Castle SantAngelo was about 250 stairs. A bunch of us had nothing to do but sit on the curb and wait. We missed out on seeing many of the excellent sites.

Liked our panoramic tour of Rome with free time to explore on our own. Dropped off after at FCO and just caught a free shuttle to our hotel for the night before flying out the next morning.

We went on an excursion to see Rome. Included visit to colluseum, gothic quarter and Vatican City. I would recommend that only those that can walk at a fast pace do an excursion like this. Otherwise pick what you really want to see and do an excursion that covers that. The journey from the port to the city is 90 minutes.

We booked tours with a company called the Roman Guy. But have to on your own arrange transfer from ship to Rome I believe. Their guides are extremely knowledgable , if you have limited time take the golf cart tour , see alot in short period of time.

If you want to see Rome, don't go here on a cruise.
