We did not get to tour this town as we just drive through to get to and from the port. It did look like a quaint little town though, with lots of shopping. It is a hike to get to the town from the port though.

Civitavecchia Mark Twain in his Innocents Abroad describes this as the worst foul pest hole in Europe although not exactly accurate our friends who stayed in town said it was singularly boring also, Rome is too hard to do as a one day excursion and we felt these excursions were very over-priced.

Should have chosen a tour that would have had time to go into the vatican in stead od touring Rome on the bus. But really enjoyed it for the most part and we had a hard time understanding our tour guide

Such a long ride to Rome, so you are rushed through the sights. If I did it again, I would take a single, focused tour (ie: Visit the Vatican only)
