See initial review posted on FM247's review.... another part of Italy with so much history. In addition to what we posted earlier under FM247's review, we thought seeing the indentations of the wagon/chariot wheels in the stone roads in Pompeii after all these years were so cool!

I love Rome! We had a layover before the cruise here so got to see even more than if we just had this one day. So we spent more time at the Forum (hubby almost got pickpocketed by a teenager her - watch out!) and the Colosseum, but did get a chance to toss a coin into the Trevi fountain. We had gelato stops but not enough time for a relaxed lunch so we just waited. The Bocha del Veritas (Mouth of Truth) is opened only for a limited time, which I had forgotten from a past visit. It closes at 2 pm - we got there at 3 pm. Been here 4 times and I still have so much left to see!!

Awesome, make sure you get your tickets early to go Vatican City and The Collesum the tours are about 3 hours. If you don't get the skip the line pass you'll be waiting at least 3hrs to get in, it's a must see and unbelievable.

There's lots to see in Rome, especially the pre-B.C. era architecture/ruins but you must be careful about where you eat as many restaurants are a tourist trap and serve very mediocre food and then overcharge you and/or add "service fees" that they will tell you are "taxes" and still ask you to pay additional tip. Be sure to check TripAdvisor or Yelp before you dine somewhere, no matter how charming or quaint the restaurant may look. We were taken and then saw an article about sooooo many others that experienced the same, then came home and saw an article on CNN about it as well. This is not the cleanest city and lots of trash thrown about the streets and tons of graffiti everywhere but we never felt unsafe but remained alert and cautious as one should always be when traveling.
