We took a taxi guide! He was fantastic!!! Although he spoke very little English.... He took us to two of tge Major attractions The Seventeen Chaplin and the Coliseum.

Catch the train from the port into Rome. The station is well within walking distance from the port but there is a service bus. The return ticket is a fraction of the cost of any tours and trains are regular and reliable. Friends took a "Rome on your own" tour for £50 and did not think it was good value. Had they known the train was available they would have done that.
