Just want to share with everyone that if you travel here and stay at the San Giorgio Hotel, you will have your reservation cancelled a week or so before and moved to another hotel further away downtown. It happed to us and 7 other friends. Also check out TripAdvisor and you will see that they have been doing this for 2 years now. The only good review they have is from last April that they keep getting bumped. Also anyone who booked through Booking.com and got bumped cannot give a bad review because they didn't stay there. Tell everyone to avoid this hotel. Check out the reviews and see for yourself. Buyer beware.

Took Best of Rome Excursion. A lot of walking and very tiring but well worth the price. Included admission to the Colosseum and St. Peter's and saw a good deal of the Roman sights during the walking portion of the tour, including the Trevi Fountain. Even included a delicious lunch in very nice restaurant.

we disembarked in Rome. We stayed at a wonderful hotel (Marcella Royal) and booked a couple of private tours before returning home a few days later. The hotel had a beautiful rooftop garden overlooking Rome. There was a bar, and wonderful pizza and snacks.

This is where our cruise ship ended and we stayed here 2 nights in an Airbnb across from the trevi fountain. We hired a taxi that was recommended by a tour guide we hired for the 2 days in Rome. He was very nice and reasonable. We had too much luggage and this is why we chose to take a private taxi. It was well worth it too since there was a marathon in Rome and it took us longer than expected. He had to ask for permission to go through street closures in order to get us as close as possible to our room. He even helped us with our luggage. We had our tour guide meet us at our Airbnb and our tour started at the trevi fountain and ended at the Coliseum. We learned so much. Our second day, we met at the Vatican museum and it ended at the basilica. She recommended places to eat and we hired the same taxi driver to take us back to the airport the following day.

We had pre-arranged highlights of Rome & Vatican/Sistine Chapel tour with Brahim (co-owner of Elegantaxi - can be found on Trip Advisor) & were not disappointed. If you want to have lunch near the Vatican before or after your visit there, Aldo's has the best lasagna I have ever tasted, good wine & fair prices. Brahim was an interesting and informative & fun tour guide. Highly recommend.

Not the prettiest port- very commercial in nature and not much to do in town. Transportation from Rome for the budget conscious involves a train, bus to the port transfer station and a port shuttle. This can be a lot to handle with large bags. Ships transfer is expensive although convenient.
