Very enjoyable town! We explored Diocletian’s Palace on our own and swam at one of the public beaches afterwards. A very pleasant day. Oh, and we had some gelato at the beach also.. awesome!

The stop was short, so we took a taxi tour, which we booked outside the port gates. For 50 euros we got a great personal tour of the city and we stopped at a beautiful beach. If you don't want to do that, you can walk into the downtown part of the city from the ship and shop the market or see old town.

A very nice place, with the old town being very interesting. After walking the length of the promenade admiring all the wonderful private yachts, we started our return towards the port, past all the smaller boats, it was then we experienced a really strong smell of raw sewage and realised that it was being pumped straight into the water amongst all these little vessels and gorgeous blue waters. This did really spoil our visit to Split after seeing what was happening in such a lovely place.

Beyond its many Adriatic islands, Croatia offers a plethora of natural wonders. Had there been time to cover the distance, we would have loved to have visited Plitvice Lakes National Park. However, time being short, we did the next best thing and went on the Krka waterfall excursion -- which was well worth our time.
