what a surprise! we read negative reviews about this port but were curious to visit it anyway. booked an excursion with a local agency "saranda jeep". their team was great, they told us about the history of their country and showed us so many amazing places we couldn't have reached by ourselves. great memories of that day!!

This is a tourist port in it’s infancy, but we really enjoyed it. We walked along the beach and stopped along the way for local beer.

We took the local bus out to the world heritage centre at Butrint. Butrint has been a Greek, Roman, Byzantine and Venetian city and is absolutely fascinating. The Albanian locals were very friendly and were always willing to talk and help. By the way the 45 minute bus journey costs just 1 euro.

Ksamil Beach is about a 25 minute cab ride away and is spectacular. We went to the 3 Islands Beach Club and the food and service was great. The Albanian people were very gracious.

Not sure why boat stops here, very poor country, we did the Blue Eye excursion and were disappointed,

Slept in and then just walked around and shopped a few hours which was great for us. Know others took a cab tour from a driver when they got off the boat and they had a great time also.
