One of our favorite excursions. Visiting the site of the original olympic games was almost unreal. And we ran on the site of the track. Learned so much from this excursion and our tour guide.

Go to Olympia and see the ruins. Very, very short on time at this port however. Should have used another four hours here.

The Captain was able to port to let us off the ship, but then had to leave and we tendered back to the ship at the end of the day. Olympia was nice. We took a bus tour to Olympia where we paid to go see the ruins. It was amazing seeing the history there. The Port of Katakolon was gorgeous. It's right on the sea and the little shops were fantastic. There was so much to do here and we couldn't fit it all in one day. They had food, bars, pedal tours, train rides, horse drawn carriages, shops.... and everything was so affordable!!!

It is easy to grab a private bus tour outside of the cruise terminal for 10 Euro (which is the same price as the train) to Olympia. The buses are comfortable and deliver you right outside Olympia.

Catch the little tram {6€) in the town to go to the winery (except on Sundays) and a lovely little beach. Go early to get a chaise.

Was really looking forward to this port. I've always wanted to stand in the same location as the first Olympians. Was absolutely amazing to see. Our plans didn't go as planned due to it down pouring rain as we arrived the port. I had a driver waiting for us and had to take us to get some dry sweatshirts. By the grace of God we had a window to make it to the archaeological site and we took it. Had to dodge puddles and mud, but that didn't stop us. It was still amazing and so glad we made the effort. The beach time after the site was obviously cancelled so instead we opted for some great shopping and fabulous lunch. The drivers suggestion was spot on. I wish i remembered the name of the taverna. After that took us to a beautiful spot that overlooked the port for some fabulous views.
