Took the ship transport to visit the original site of the olympics at Olympia. Spend a good couple of hours wondering round at our leisure, fantastic historical site. Had to skip museum as it was heaving by the time we got their with long lines to get in. So perhaps we should have done it in reverse. Katakolon was nice to stroll round. Plenty of shops, although clothes highly priced and plenty of bars/ cafes by harbour front.

Today kicked off nicely, I watched the pilot approach the ship as we cruised into port during my workout. I indulged in a deep tissue muscle massage and then joined my party for the "Olympia & Greek Flavors" tour. As a fan of the Olympics I was no stranger to this site. This was an afternoon tour at 11:50A when we arrived at lunch we received bits and pieces of peasant food. It was terrible and 3-tours had dined before our group arrived.. I did not eat and drank the bottle of Pellegrino I brought from the ship to sustain me. The dancers at this venue were very authentic in their performance. I enjoyed it! Spice H20 had no shade and no spice. I opted for a nap before dinner. Unfortunately the day ended at Moderno which the entire group of my 5- companions did not take pleasure in. At 1230AM most of us ended up eating at O'Sheehan's. I had 3 bites of the pastrami which is the best thing on the menu.

We went to the ruins where the first Olympics were held. When I find my photos, I will post them. It was very informative and educational.

Not much to do

This was a great tour as well. I loved the statue of Hermes in the museum - I have seen that statue in countless art history books for years, but seeing it in person was an entirely different experience. Plus I got to see the back of the statue, which they do not show in the books lol. I wish we could have spent more time there.

The Olympia site was extremely interesting and the guide spoke English very well and was knowledgeable about the site.

We were told that this port would be a non-event, but we actually fell in love with it. The shopping was fun and the restaurants lining the harbor were great.

small & sweet respect to the locals who open their stores just for the cruises even off season

Olympia was very beautiful with and informative and charming guide, Eugenia. Katakolon town is a rat trap in row of hugely overpriced chatchkas with a nice view of the bay.

Olympia was incredible even if their security was a bit overzealous.
