We found the walled city beautiful, well maintained, and easy to explore. Our excursion included a cable car ride, but we would not do an excursion next time - Just take a shuttle to the old town (2 miles away) and walk around instead.

We did not book an excursion this day but instead paid the $30 for the shuttle. They drop you off in front of the castle (the main attraction). To walk in the main part of the castle is free, to climb up the castle walls is roughly $20 a person. They only accept euros in certain places in Croatia, however we were fine to use a visa at most stores. So I wouldn't rush to be exchanging large amounts of money for kunas, and everything is relatively cheap. If you do want to do guided tours, there are plenty of people arranging/selling tours at the site of the castle for cheaper than the cruise line offers.

This port, along with Venice were the reason for us choosing this particular cruise, and we were not disappointed. What a beautiful place Dubrovnik is and when we studied the map showing all the bomb damaged buildings and those that lost roofs or were burnt to the ground during the 90's it is incredible to see how many repairs have been done to restore this jewel in the Adriatic. Would definately visit Dubrovnik again - Stunning.

We got off of the ship at 7. We ubered into town which was cheaper and faster. We walked the walls. It wasn't crowded because we were there when they opened. We also did a tour. We met near the fountain and the tour person had a red umbrella. It was at 10:00. It was very interesting and informative. She took us to see many different parts of the city and was able to tell us many interesting things about it.

Dubrovnik was my favorite port visited during our 10-day Crown Princess cruise, and probably the place I’d most want to see again. The streets inside and just outside Old Town were absolutely immaculate, and shop owners paid such attention to detail to ensure a great experience. For example, most of the sidewalk cafes had little blankets draped over each chair in case guests were chilly. During the day, we took the advice of a local craftswoman and caught a ferry over to the Island of Lokrum. This island was neat, only polluted during the day, except for the huge rabbits that have overrun the place. There was a nudist beach and also a Game of Thrones exhibit. I sat for a picture in the famous GoT chair, but I admit this would’ve been more exciting for me if I had seen the show. 😉 Our excursion was a dinner tour that included a stop at a local bar for a drink. The dinner was unique and tasty. Since we didn’t have to get back to the ship till midnight, we stayed in Old Town and listened to live jazz at an outside bar, where I had a delicious drink (“Chili & Mint”) I could only get there because it included their homemade chili syrup. The weather and atmosphere were perfect, and I’d recommend this port to anyone!

Took MSC coach to town , went on cable car up to incredible views and war museum, well worth a visit and spent the rest of the time in the walled city. Will definitely return!
