The excursion was awesome. Walking around Havana was great. The tour guide was great, he definitely answered all my questions.

Had the most amazing time loved everything about this city! We had dinner on the top of the hotel Ernest Hemingway lived at, overlooking old habanna. It was so romantic. Pineapple chicken and the mojito is highly recommend! The people were so sweet and kind every place we went.

The pre arrival briefing was excellent, We felt really safe and the Cuban people are very nice to the tourist. Even if you were approached by a pan handler they would easily give up if you said no. I highly recommend a tour via a local taxi driver in a convertible, it was the most informative of the trip as well as fun. It truly was great to interact with the local Cuban people. Once you clear Cuban customs for the 1st time, the rest is easy. Just follow the guidance of the ships crew and you will love Havana. The one big negative was the cruise excursion for "old Havana" we had a terrible tour guide and from what we heard is if you had a good tour guide the tour was great. We were falling asleep because she was not telling us anything.

This way an amazing experience! Great to meet the Cuban people, so friendly and welcoming! We were there on May 1st which is workers day holiday. Great to see all the small businesses people have opened to support the cruise ship passengers - everything from hand made items, to rum and cigar shops. Many locals opened little stores in the front of their homes or along the street. Very friendly and not pushy. So sad the US Gov. felt they needed to stop all tourism /people to people. The US is the only country in the world that cant go to Cuba - very sad. We were hoping to go back again soon. The 1950s cars were fun to ride in. We went on a local walking tour where we learned so much including his govt food ration book and how that all works. Very enlightening.

Did the four hour walking tour of old Havana. It was amazing walking through the old port city. Our guide was good and we drank Cuban rum and smoked Cuban cigars. Walking through the city after the tour was a lot of fun as well. We found a hotel with a bar and music and drank beer and smoked cigars. Then did some shopping in old Havana. The city is in critical need of repair and the people are poor but very friendly. Overall and incredible experience.

We Enjoyed Cuba. Did a community project, went to a restaurant and cigar and rum tasting. Also stopped in a cigar and rum shop. Everything was outstanding and we met quite of few talented artists and musicians.

If you are going to Cuba, please, please please find room in your suitcase to bring a few much needed supplies to an organization called Aniplant. They work to help all the stray animals you will see on the streets of Havana. They could really use stuff like cat and dog medications, shampoos, grooming supplies, medications (ask your vet for near expiration meds they might be able to give you). IF you are an animal lover like I am, it is heartbreaking to see some of the animals like the dogs and cats roaming with skin conditions. Keep in mind the average Cuban makes $25-$35 a month and it gives you some idea of how valued any thing you can donate to help is appreciated. Aniplant is in Havana, you can google them or look them up on Facebook and see what their current needs are.
