Port is like many others- too many people trying to separate you from your money. People that will invade your personal space and no set rules or boundaries to keep them away from you. We did find one taxi driver that was polite and friendly. I asked to go to Devils bridge, without adding more people to the taxi. I told him we did not want to crowded and wanted to stretch our legs inside. He was gracious enough to accommodate and agreed to a very good price. If you don’t get a good fee for taxi- walk away and tell the person your done w them. Then find the right person. Devils bridge is a good trip, see a lot of the island. Ask for a stop at the church for a picture before or after the drive. It’s worth it, especially now that Notre Dame Cathedral is in the headlines and this church was clearly designed with it in mind. Devils bridge is remarkable area, ask your driver why it’s named devils bridge. Walk the bridge but be careful and wear good outdoors shoes to slip. Relax and listen to the crashing waves. The people of the area just as you exit Granduer really hurt this location.

I haven't experienced such an aggressive cruise port since Nassau. The hawkers were so persistent that the entire port experience was ruined. They congregated around choke points and would barely take "no" for an answer. I'd love to see Nelson's Dockyard, but not if I have to deal with that to do so. (Copied from my Ship Mate port review.)

No excursion, had a family friend tour us around. Not much to see but go to Turner's Beach if you can. Beautiful!

HANDS DOWN the pushiest, most obnoxious port (I’ve been to 10). We were really disappointed. Husband harassed a little when he declined to speak to someone about taxi fares. Couldn’t walk anywhere without being hassled and followed. Man, what a let down. Rest of cruise on RCCL Freedom of the Seas was excellent : ) TIP: walk with head down, lots of no thank you’s.

This was our favorite island...just beautiful!! We booked our own excursion through Viator on the Antigua Shore Excursion: Round Island Tour. Our group of four were taken all around the island in a nice SUV with our own driver telling us about everything and showing us all the highlights. Our tour was supposed to be 5 hours and it ended up being 6 1/2. Well worth the $$$.
