We flew in a day early and stayed at the airport hotel because at the time we booked (shortly after hurricane Maria) we were unsure of the status of other hotels. It was satisfactory with a pleasa staff. Sunday morning we took a cab into Old San Juan for a 2 hour walking tour we booked through Viator. The guide David Rodriguez-Otero with Tripolin.com was excellent. We met at a Starbucks and heard and saw about buildings, forts and the development of San Juan. Highly recommend David.

Walked around Old San Juan. There's several people trying to sell you a tour as soon as you exit the pier. Just keep walking if you're not interested. Checked out the Fort, did some shopping, found the umbrellas, and ended at the beach. Stopped by the food trucks on the way back to the ship. Really enjoyed our time here.

Absolutely love San Juan. Even though they are still in the midst of post-hurricane recovery, my trip here was wonderful. I am especially in love with Old San Juan, and the beautiful architecture and brick streets. Everyone was extremely friendly and happy to have tourists start to come back.

We went on a basic tour the first time we cruised into Puerto Rico, and decided to meander on our own the second time. We went to Barricina while wandering and tried their Pina Colada which was good but honestly not the best I've ever had (that was on Kokomo beach in Curacao). We visited the little shops and found decent prices on gifts to being home. We felt safe while walking, and for a person in normal health accustomed to walking the hills are no problem. If you have any trouble walking I highly recommend grabbing a cab to take you to "downtown" and you can even grab another for a couple dollars to get back to the ship. We should have taken a taxi for the return trip but the ship seemed much closer than it really was. Lesson learned for next time.

The folks were awesome. We did take a tour via bus and got to see the forts etc for some nice photos. We ended this stop off with a dinner of Mofongos and Mojitos at Racine's.

Did not have an excursion, just walked to the fort. Very close to port. Great coffee shops, places to eat and small shops to peruse. People were very friendly. I felt that I did not have enough time here and would like to go back to explore for a few days.
