Puerto Rico had police at every corner in streets to assist any way possible for directions and safety as the island is still in recovery. Wonderful people all very nice .

We didn't do an excursion here we just got off the boat and explored the island on our own. We had a short time here and wish we could had had more because we loved San Juan and would have loved to have seen more and explore the rainforest as well. We decided to view the Forts we got off the boat around 8am. We first walked to the Fort you can see almost straight up the hill(about a 10min walk) and was informed it didn't open until 9am. We met a local who told us to follow the sidewalk up the hill and then to El Morro and do it first and this was great advise. The walk up the hill was a little rough ( there is a free trolley it's green that makes rounds) but otherwise it wasn't a bad walk 15-20 mins. There was a nice breeze from the ocean and the view was beautiful and we saw lots of neat little things along the way. Inside and outside of El Morro is neat and has some amazing views of the city and the ocean. Take your binoculars if you have them so you can enjoy more of the sights. We spent way to much time up there and hoped the free trolley when we left and got off at the shopping area. We did some shopping in stores and in an open market area in the center of town. We found everyone to be very nice and very laid-back. We found a little food court place and enjoyed a cold drink (non alcoholic)called a Lemonada. We then did the other fort and found it to be just as interesting as well and gave some beautiful views of the city and even of our ship. We also found a movie theater on the way out the fort showing an informative video that had the AC blasting which was much appreciated and a nice way to cool down for a moment. I only wish the video was in English or had English subtitles so I could have picked up more of what it was saying. My family loved our day In San Juan and would definitely love to go back and are more of Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico is beautiful!!! Loved touring Old San Juan and the forts. So rich in history. Loved the cobblestone streets and little shops especially the artisan stops with the hand made souvenirs. Only complaint is that our length of time there was too short. Will definitely visit for a longer stay.

Very blessed the San Juan did not sustain serious damage from Irma and we had a place to return to. The people of San Juan were very kind and generous even though they were cleaning up after the storm.

PUERTO RICO: San Juan is back and better than ever. We walk to the closest fort Castilo San Cristobal, paid admission then walked to El Morro fort via the road overlooking the ocean and passing by “La Perla” where the Despacito video was filmed. We got into El Morro for free with our receipt from San Cristobal. Then we walk back to the ship via the old streets full of shops, food, and people. Everyone was so nice. AMAZING! I am a NewYorkRican so yes, I am Bias

I would strongly recommend walking to the end of Calle Fortaleza street and there you will find the street covered with colorful hanging umbrellas. Also, the fort is a must see.

San Juan was an amazing experience! My husband and I spent time there before our cruise and absolutely fell in love with this city. Great food, great people, lovely architecture, and wonderful historic sites.

You do not need to book an excursion for this port. There is so much to do close by including shops and restaurant. A 5-10 minute walk gets you to the capital building, old castle, and beach!
