We did the Maracas waterfall hike - amazing view when we got to the waterfall. Our guides assisted the large group through the trail and to the waterfall. Took about 45 minutes to hike to it, it did require tourists to be in excellent physical condition to hike it. Parts of the trail are a bit tricky, guides were very helpful and patient. We got to go under the waterfall and take lots of photos.

Did Trinidad Highlights and Scenic drive. Had Carnival dancers and music at the pier. Was unexpected but nice. Enjoyed the drive around the area and seeing some the renovation going on to the historical homes. Drove about 45 minutes to Maracas lookout and beach area. Road was windy and narrow with a lot of traffic. Beach area was just a stop for 30 minutes. Restroom facility had no running water and dirty. Beach and water were not attractive - in general a real disappointment. Overall the tour was okay but would just stay on the ship if go here in the future.

Nice stop. We took a guided bus tour of the island. Interesting island. May consider a return visit.

This rating is not for the city, I don’t think it is a very nice tourist destination. But it is rated for the fabulous Asa Wright bird sanctuary. We took a ship’s tour there. Again..too many people. But the place is wonderful. Only if you like birds and nature. The walking tour is rather treacherous, slippy, up and downhill, roots, rocks. It is a true jungle rainforest. The birds were pointed out by a most able guide. There is a deck where you can watch the birds without going on the walk. It would be fabulous to just stay there.

Crappy port. Ship ports right in the freight ship yard. Had an aft cabin and opened curtains to a container ship being offloaded right in front of us. Got off and went for a walk to the downtown area. It was busy and confusing. There were travel aids on corners during the walk to point you in the right direction at least. Couldn't wait to get back on the ship.

We did a tour excursion. It was very interesting. Possible to get off and walk or to find a cab at the port. Plenty to see. We had a very pleasant guide. We went to many viewing points, she told us about the island and its history and plants and everything. We visited the Botanic gardens, a beach area very entertaining here with music and local dancers. A good place to sample local food as well.
