Was very crowded and we were rushed to really Do much so we just visited Junkanoo beach and some Of the shops. Maybe if we were there for more than a day, but with just 8 hrs and this being our first cruise, we were afraid to do much for fear of missing the deadline to get back to the ship. The beach was very clean and the water was just remarkable. The color of blue just can’t be described.

Don't just roll into this port without some plan. Do your research, Google it, figure out what you want to do before you get off the ship otherwise you'll just end up wandering around the town. there is much to see much to do if you make the best of it and do a little research

Due to the daughter being a Beatles nutcase had to visit Cabbage beach and the ruins that were featured in the 'HELP' video ... So she could play her Ukulele on the beach ... Went via Water Ferry, returned. Y Taxi . visited Straw market ... DID NOT get hassled by anybody there ... found the locals to be polite and charming!! Would visit again!!!

Beautiful port. Did not do any excursions. Have been there 3 times and love to walk by the water at Senor Frogs. The beach is so blue and clear. I always buy conch fritters or conch salad while on the island.

Find the little history museum, you can walk there easily and it only costs $3.00. At the museum, Andrea P. Major met us on entry and she and her assistant made us feel special just because we walked in off the street. Bahamas has an incredible history, and this tiny museum is a must see!

Went to the "Free" beach by the Atlantis. Found a YouTube video by Mr. Traveler on how to get to the beach which we took the water taxi, if you're in a hurry take the vans/taxi. You can rent a chair $10-15 and get unlimited drinks $20 from the locals.

Nassau isn't as bad as the reviews say. Yes, people will ask you if you need a ride here and a ride there or if you want to buy this or that. All you need is a firm no thank you and keep walking. I don't know if they didn't bother me because of my size or what, but it wasn't that bad. It only took about 3 minutes to get past all of that due to foot traffic. We walked to the Queen's Staircase. I did get haggled by someone to learn the history, behind it, but if the guy say anything, just say no thank you and keep walking. I did that the first time before he came up behind me and actually asked. We then went back to the ship to change into beach clothes and went to Junkanoo Beach. I didn't see any trash on the beach like people claimed until all the cruise crowds left. That's when the trash started to accumulate sadly.

Thanks to all the reviews and knowledge I gained from this app I was able to get the most out Nassau at a reasonable price without booking excursions with the cruise line! Our ship missed Cococay and returned to Nassau so we had 2 days at the port. First day we went snorkeling and rode the #10 bus to cable beach. We took pics at Baha Mar on the pier and stopped at the Fish Fry for some true Bahamian food. Checked out the straw market for souvenirs and walked around the port. The second day we stopped for a tour and drinks at John Watlings distillery. Took a taxi and went back to cable beach and rode jet skis before the rain started. Jumped on the #10 and returned back to the fish fry for dinner and had ice cream at Dairy Queen (one of the few businesses opened after 6pm) I never felt a sense of fear or danger when walking around the island. MOST of the people were friendly and helpful when asking for directions. The vendors did their job of trying to make a sale but we just told them no thank you or that we had an excursion to get to and they would leave us alone. So for anyone who seems discouraged about visiting this port, please don’t be. It’s a great port to visit when you have a plan of adventure! Feel free to ask questions and I’ll answer to my best ability.
