As others have said, Junkaroo beach is easy walking distance... has food, music, etc... And a nice view of the ships.

you can go to either junkanoo beach which is closer to the cruise terminal or go to the cabbage beach on paradise Island. For the cabbage beach you have to take a shuttle van or a taxi. Or you can take a boat taxi that charges you $6 / person. We went to cabbage beach. The beach is free and nice with water sports activities. But you have to pay for chairs, umbrellas and any water sports activities.

Nearest is Junkanoo but because it's near both the port and the older resorts you get lots of beggars and hawkers (& their product is not always legal). Cabbage is out on Paradise Island so be careful of the rip current, lack of bathroom (sometimes), and watch your time to return to the ship (between 3-5pm) allowing for up to 45 minutes extra time for "rush hour" traffic.

Junkanoo beach is a 10 minute walk from the dock. It's free but you pay to rent chairs and umbrellas. Our family didn't care for it. The beach was small and crowded with questionable people walking around.

Cable Beach is out by the newer resorts and gives you the choice between taxi or public bus to get there. Less beggars and street vendors because the resorts that set up kiosks chase them away. same calm water as Junkanoo but less chance of "oil" slick from being close to the cruise docks.

questionable people???? paranoid much? I have been there many times, and have never felt unsafe or nervous. Go and have fun.

Junkanoo Beach is free and close. Free. Bring a beach towel. My wife, myself and my brother in law all went there and swam for about an hour with no issues

avoid this beach. police and security work together. person stole my phone out of my secured bag, taxied to police station only to be told they knew who had my phone...ship time is limited here so here is an insurance number...phone number of station on napkin. can't make this up!

Junkanoo Beach is a short 15 minute walk from the dock. You can get some local food and there are a lot of places to get a drink. It’s also a great place for pictures.
