We booked the extreme zip lining on La Romana and it was awesome! Some things to know... It takes about an hour and a half to get there via nice coach busses. This activity could prove to be a bit strenuous for those who are not physically fit.. walking up hills and climbing stairs..esp. if it's hot and sunny. There is also a weight limit.. I think it was 250?? I don't recall if this mentioned in the details when we booked.. but thought I'd share that. We were fortunate it was overcast and just right. The staff was professional and safety conscious. There were 12 runs.. starting with 2 shorter ones. . which helped with getting used to it. Be prepared for an adrenaline rush! The longest run is 1/2 mile... above treetops and over a river! At the end we were served Coke and Sprite and fresh pineapple and coconut. The bus ride back got us back to port with very little time to do much else.. But I really didn't care. . from what we saw while driving thru town and from what the tour guide told us. ..it's an extremely impoverished country. I was glad to be buffered from that via the excursion. I don't think the locals were happy to see the cruise ship people.. someone on the bus said they saw a local flipping us the bird as we passed. I heard from others in the ship. . those that did other things. that the vendors were very aggressive and annoying. Had we not booked the Ziplining excursion, I'm certain I would have returned to the ship. Very sad to see how those people live and very humbling too. I would not go there again though.. there are so many other nice destinations.

Not much to do just off the boat unless you have something planned. We didn't spend much time off the boat; this was a day we got back on and enjoyed the actives on the boat!

Ill go back when it gets better. None of the excursions drew our attention. Shopping area close to the pier were just flea markets. One bar....terrible service even though it wasn't crowded. Just not a "fun vibe" We didnt spend more than an hour off the ship.
